Family Sharing Programme: Be a host family (non-residential) for non-local students
You are cordially invited to be the family hosts for non-local students of HKU. This is a non-residential host family programme organized by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS). Launched in 2012, 170 hosts and 500 non local students from 38 countries have joined the Programme and benefited from the mutual cultural understanding.
Host families are expected to:
- Invite non-local students for at least two family functions before March 2015;
- Engage them in cultural exchanges; and
- Enjoy and have fun!!!
Participating hosts will be connected to one or two non-local students and spend precious moments in a variety of occasional host family functions, such as family meals, holiday celebrations, outings to historical sites and places of interest.
The Scheme is unique as it offers the rare opportunity for non local students to experience local cultures in a ‘family setting’ that cannot be afforded in hall programmes, buddy schemes, etc
An Opening Ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m on 26 October 2014 (Sunday), where students will be introduced to their host families. The deadline for application is on 14 October 2014.
